Kitchen – The kitchen is a massive part of a deep clean. Any limescale or mould should be removed. The defrosting of the freezer can often be an extra charge, so it’s a good idea to get this done before the cleaners arrive, and then they will usually clean inside the freezer, too.

Bathroom/s – The toilets, sinks and taps, baths and showers should be cleaned so that there is no sign of any dirt, limescale or bacteria left. Any other surfaces in the bathroom, including the floor and windows or mirrors, should also be wiped clean. If you have a removable shower curtain, this should also be washed.

Interior rooms (living room, bedrooms, dining room, studies, etc.) should be thoroughly dusted from the light fixtures to the skirting boards, including tables, chairs, sofas, etc. Doors and door handles, electrical sockets and wardrobes should all be polished. Dirty, stained, or discoloured carpets are one of the most common causes of tenants not receiving their deposit back in total, but they are generally not included in the price of a deep or end-of-tenancy clean. So, if your carpets also need cleaning, a good cleaning company can provide this alongside the rest of the cleaning (usually at an extra cost). Professional carpet cleaners should be able to test your carpet to determine what type of material it is made from and then use machinery and products best suited for that type of carpet.

Using the wrong products or machinery on the nasty carpet can do more harm than good, so it is always best to check that the technician is fully trained and qualified. Steam cleaning is usually the best option for cleaning carpets, but when this cannot be used, dry cleaning is a great alternative.
