There is no better feeling than having a sparkling clean house – except having a sparkling clean house when you wake up on Christmas morning! Nobody wants to be bothered with cleaning the bathroom or kitchen cupboards over the festive period, so it’s best to get the house in order in the week running up to Christmas. Then, you can put your feet up and enjoy the Christmas holidays in a fresh, spacious, clean environment. Cleaning doesn’t have to seem like a chore; it gets you up and moving, and if you follow Premium Cleans tips, it will feel like your house is Christmas-ready in no time.

19th December – De-Clutter
It’s excellent to de-clutter any time of the year as if you have half the stuff. It cuts your housework in half! But if you haven’t done this step in December, you must seriously declutter before Christmas to make room for any food or new presents that may need homing. We advise only to keep items that you love or need. There is no use keeping things just in case you might use it ‘one day’ – chances are, if you don’t use or like it now, you never will.
20th December – General Tidy
After the de-clutter, you should have a general tidying in your living room, dining room and bedrooms of your house (or study/playroom, etc., if you have lots of space), ensuring that every belonging you have has its place. Get the whole family involved so everyone can put things away after using them. Also, use this opportunity to dust, wipe surfaces and change the beds.
21st December – Kitchen – Cleaning the kitchen can seem like a big job, but it is so worthwhile once it is done
We recommend starting with the cupboard fronts, which you can wipe down with a damp cloth and a small amount of washing-up liquid, then moving on to the worktops, where it is a great idea to move everything off and use an antibacterial spray to clean them thoroughly. After this, check if your appliances (fridge, microwave, etc.) and any other areas need a little spruce up. You can leave the floor for tomorrow.
22nd December – Floors
Have a thorough hoover of every room, including the skirting boards, upholstery and corners. Also, steam clean any hard flooring. Our top tip is to add some fragrance to your steamer to make the whole house smell beautiful.
23rd – December– Bathrooms
If you leave the bathrooms until Christmas Eve, they should see you through to the new year. Scrub the sinks (including taps), shower or bath, toilets, flush surfaces, mirrors, and door handles. Ensure that you wipe down the bathroom after cleaning so that it doesn’t dry smeary, and if you have smaller bathrooms and didn’t include the floors yesterday, it’s straightforward (and practical) to use wipes to clean the bathroom floor.
24th and 25th December – Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
Have fun and enjoy your wonderfully clean and tidy house (or better still, have dinner at someone else’s house so yours stays perfectly clean and tidy). Here at Premium Clean, we wish you all a Merry Christmas, and if you do have any unfortunate spillages or accidents that ruin your hard work above, please feel free to call us in the new year. Our friendly team will be waiting to help you with your cleaning needs.
